    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

Rovers old boys

Looks like it was down to a reduced playing budget

Proper club have more players than fans. During matches the clubhouse is packed with junior teams after their matches. The car plant us hardly thriving anyway

That was sudden. Only 21 hours a go on X he was praised with the resigning of a young CB for another season and inferring he was a good prospect. Tweet after that said he was resigning and thanked the committee for the opportunity.
Strange or what.

I see the twitterati are touting Holmes for a role in Clarke’s backroom team.

For context, Vauxhalls finished a place behind Bootle in the league. Bootle are managed by our own Alan Morgan…. part of our current backroom team that the twitterati want clearing out!

It’d be nice to have some Tranmere connections in the backroom team but (1) they have to be good enough and (2) Clarke has to want them.

Dave Challinor expected to leave Stockport apparently.

He has obviously had huge success there. However, he has been heavily backed so perhaps some frustration that they have not reached the Championship.

Linked with a move to Sheff Wednesday. Assume Clint will go with him.

Max Power returning to Wigan again
Interesting. He’s had a good season as the Bradford captain and got them to the play offs. Must have a soft spot for Wigan and perhaps a longer deal.

Dave Challinor leaves Stockport by mutual consent. Linked with jobs at Sheff Wed and Blackburn. Will be interesting if his number two Clint Hill leaves too.

A shame he didn't get them promoted, a tough league, they had a horrible bit of form mid season.

The two clubs Challinor is linked with either are or have been basket cases. It will be interesting to see what next.

He's had two clubs that were on the up with significant funds and he's done ok. I'd be surprised to see him end up somewhere with big problems, but the question is, did he jump or was he pushed?

I think some of the staff above him have left and he probably wants a fresh start after 5 years. As you say he’s always had financial backing whenever he’s been.

All except at Hartlepool were he wasn't that well backed
Both Sheff Wed and Blackburn have 'big club' history so maybe that might be an attraction. That said, I know that Wednesday had ownership and financial issues. I am not sure where all that is now.

It’ll be interesting to see if the top end of L1 proves to be Chally’s ceiling, or if he can cut it in the Championship. It’s a very big step up but I wouldn’t necessarily rule him out.

Despite their problems, Leicester and Wednesday will both be aiming to come straight back up from L1 and they’re the kind of clubs who should also then be able to consolidate in the Championship, at the very least. Could be ideal for him - an opportunity at a big club with a realistic chance of success next season and a route into the Championship with some momentum behind them, rather than going right now to a Championship struggler like Blackburn.

Mind you, if any of those three are options for him it’s a nice position for him to be in. Then again, the way he was talking today sounded like he might have a month or two off before getting back in the saddle.
