    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

League Two Fleetwood (0) v Rovers (0)

Well said, AM. But as we have already played Carlisle and Morecambe twice, every team we will be playing in League Two will be better than us. ;)
Yea but we have played all the teams around us and lost to most of them thanks to Nigel shi#tkons. But the last 5 some of them our way better and we have matched them oh for a goal scorer

One positive is that all the middle tier clubs will be winding down with not much to play for. You would hope that this will be to our advantage. The team have certainly appeared more committed recently even despite the lack of firepower. There certainly are some decent players in our team albeit that they had lost faith in Nigel.

Not actually true, as today's game and others recently demonstrate we have better players than a number of clubs above us. However, they were hopelessly mismanaged by Adkins resulting in our current situation.

I thought it was a low quality game where we were slightly the better side, but another valuable point on the road to safety.

I did not think the starting line up was the correct one for a game of this nature. I was not convinced we needed two defensive midfielders against Fleetwood, and starting with Saunders meant we were too tempted to hit long balls into the channels rather than playing through the thirds as we have previously under Crosby. To his credit, Crosby did make the necessary changes with half an hour to go and we kept the ball much better once Morris, Jennings and Dennis were on the pitch. In the closing stages we looked the more likely side to win the game.

Although the quality in the final third was generally lacking from both sides, I thought we were very well organised defensively once again and never looked in danger of losing the game.

There were not many star performers, but Finley was the one player who did try and get on the ball and play, and was probably man of the match. Turnbull and Bradshaw also had solid games.

Despite Carlisle's win today, I am still pretty confident that we will survive.

Two good interviews. Kieron clearly loves the club, the fans and has enjoyed his six years here despite the ups and downs.

Andy’s interview was positive but honest. It was informative and you could see how his personality would have a positive effect on the players.

I have just seen a replay of the handball in the second half, and it was absolutely blatant.
Thats the flipping lower Leagues refs for you usless

Yes and no wonder he is getting a tune out the players even if we are not scoring loads of goals

Thought Jennings and Dennis did reasonably. Morris as well as the failing to square for Dennis mentioned seemed to be a bit off the pace. There was one instant where Rovers were attacking and the home defender miskicked a clearance, but Kieron didn’t react quickly enough to close it down, giving their man the chance to clear properly.

I was puzzled with Crosby replacing Patrick with Sam Taylor in the closing stages. Moving Merrie there or bringing Garrett on would have seemed the more obvious options.
I thought Morris actually made some good runs and got into good areas, and looked our most likely goalscorer in the closing stages.

Having seen the brief highlights package, I'm as puzzled as the rest of you about the offside decision against us. I'm sceptical that the human eye is that good to spot a momentary lapse into an offside position by Saunders, if it did actually happen(my eyesight isn't that sharp to pick it up). It would be interesting to apply VAR and find out if the correct call was actually made.
The second penalty shout is captured very clearly and looks more clearcut from that in terms of how far the arm was from the body than my initial impression behind the goal where it happened. However the first penalty claim, which wasn't shown on the highlights should have been seen by both the referee and far side AR as unlike the second on his side of the park.

I agree. They would be doing better if Crosby had been appointed earlier but the lack of fire power would still have been a problem. Norris was meant to be the man but he has been a sicknote for almost the entire season. Assuming we survive I live in hope that our recruitment is better next season. You can find players from unlikely sources. George Yardley was a Scottish player who signed for Rovers after returning from a stint in Australia. Between 1966 and 1970 he scored 68 goals in 123 games. Pretty amazing really. He was deadly.

I watched the match on daughters sky and couldn't see any off side, I have watched the highlights numerous times and still can't see any off side. I think Fleetwood got away with one there, also it's over 110 corners since we scored from one, so it's going to be a long time before we get that close again. I thought the handball was a nailed on penalty.

I thought the penalty at Bradford was a bit of a soft one. Saunders does like to roll around at times so maybe things have evened themselves out.
Kind of and without wanting to sound pedantic there was still the blatent handball they got away with but at least there are talking points now which means we are making our mark in games.

Alas as we all know players like George Yardley do not get signed often. If my memory serves me right Yardley was signed after being released after a trial at Luton who where in the fourth division like Rovers at the time, I also think Yardley scored in his first game for Rovers against Luton of all teams. Oh for another Yardley at the moment.
