    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

League Two Rovers (0) v Doncaster (3)

Why is Dennis trying to get sent off? Has he got an Easter holiday booked or something?
Poor first half.

Carlisle 2 up, things are getting tighter again
I didn't see that coming. Port Vale are top of the division and also head the form league with five wins in six. Mark Hughes has finally got them working together. Andy's job is far from over yet.

Not a good set of results all round. We need to get into this game second half, not done enough.

I wasn’t convinced with the free-kick award that led to their goal. No idea why Crosby was sent off? Dennis lucky not to be though couldn’t tell if he had fair complaint regarding the initial free-kick given against him.

Was sent off for knocking the ball behind him into stand when it went out of play. Stupid decision by both him and ref.
In trouble now. Poor defending there. Penalty also unnecessary was going out. Not good!

Port Vale miss penalty in stoppage time, we really need a win on Monday

Lots of possession , didn't do much with it. Omari used up all his magic last Saturday , didn't threaten anything. Hawkes anonymous, Morris didnt show much either. Hard to see how that free kick went in , and then Magee gave the striker the opportunity to buy a pen. We needed a lot of luck to get back into the game. Harsh red for Crosby , but I am not sure how much that will have affected the result. Conceding for fun now, super tricky trip to Barrow.

The penalty was the turning point for me, if we’d kept at at 0-1 might have stood a slim chance of getting back into the game. Not for the first time this season, Finley lost the ball on the halfway line and didn’t have the stamina to get back leading to their third. In the end they could have had 6 or 7 with breakaways as we chased the game. Unsure about some of the sub calls though there was an encouraging cameo from Garrett that made me wonder why he’d been so out of favour.

Very little positive feeling leaving the ground and with a train journey back with loads of exuberant Donny fans it doesn’t feel that things are going to get better any time soon.

We gave the ball away on numerous occasions. It was a poor performance and against a team that have scored more than sixty goals this season, you will get punished.

A difficult afternoon.

In the first twenty minutes I actually thought we were slightly the better side without creating much, but we did not respond well to the concession of the first goal. Hawkes, Morris and Hendry were anonymous in midfield and we struggled to get the wing backs into the game due to Doncaster's strength in the wide areas.

I thought the changes at half time made sense, giving us greater physicality. However, the penalty effectively ended the game, albeit we rallied and did create opportunities in the twenty minutes that followed, with Dennis hitting the bar and their keeper making a couple of good saves. Donny's pace meant they would always be a threat on the counter attack and the third goal killed the game. All things considered, I think they were the best side we have played this season, in terms of game management and ruthlessness.

There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks of Crosby being the long term answer and the current squad being good enough, and I think today's game was a reminder that neither of those statements are true. Root and branch change is needed at this club when the new owners finally arrive. In the short term, we have to stop conceding goals and become more difficult to beat, particularly away from home. Carlisle's remaining fixtures look easier than ours and survival really is in the balance again.

Crosby performed well to give us a fighting chance of survival, and the fact the situation remains dire following Carlisle's resurgence is the responsibility of Mr Palios.

All three above Rovers will need to understand they can easily be dragged in. Especially given Carlisle's, and to a certain extent our own up-turn in form under Crosby. Equally those three do have excellent GDs comparatively. We need to improve ours, even by small margins, should we end up level with another in the last relegation place, as the GDs down there are very tight. Fingers crossed, and I do expect we get the necessary points.

Huge day coming up on Monday now. We are away to Barrow who's form has been good recently, Accy play Carlisle. Carlisle have now won their last three games. I'm starting to get a little twitchy. If Carlisle win on Mon and we don't pick up any points at Barrow, the gap is 1 point with 2 games left.
