    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

New manager - Darrell Clarke

Probably the best we could expect without any takeover. Knows the level and yes he was sacked last season but has promotions on his CV and no manager has a perfect record.

Its all about recruitment now.

He hopefully has enough about him to keep us away from trouble, which is the only objective until the takeover issue is settled.

He has got a big job on his hands.

I notice DC says "in the building" and MP says "into the building" in the quotes on the website . Coincidence, or....?

Is there any mention of the backroom staff situation?

Comparisons with Micky possibly. Had successive promotions in his first spell at BR and then went back and it didn’t work out second time round. Although Micky didn’t lose 10 in a row!

No nothing as yet
He’s done a radio Merseyside interview and said he will be bringing people in. Wonder if Crosby might get a call as was his number 2 when Vale promoted

From Wiki

Clarke is flexible with his formations and is open to different styles of play rather than sticking to a rigid philosophy. He believes that "adaptability is key".[121] However, he does have a preference for playing with two strikers.[122] He is known for his intense training sessions, and for producing extremely detailed reports on opposition teams.[123] In his first spell at Bristol Rovers, his team played an attacking, passing style and scored an average of close to two goals per game.[8] A motivational manager, he sees a happy dressing room as an essential part of a winning team, and has been described as having a bubbly and infectious personality, though he has been quoted as saying "I'm not a cuddling manager... soft players don't win you promotions".[124][7] His personality traits make him an energetic, passionate, and frank manager.[125] He prefers to maintain a big squad of players, and to regularly rotate his starting line-ups.[126]

"I didn't want to take a job where success was staying in the division... I like promotions. I like that feeling of working towards a goal.
— Clarke talking about his motivations, January 2020.[127]

Like the cut of his jib already. Saying thank you Mark at the beginning rather than Mate which drove me mad with Wilde gets him a pass from me.:)
Deliberately did not eulogise Smith and Plant was I am sure deliberate also. Not much else so we shall see...

Yes I thought that. Could have easily said how great they were but perhaps has seen that Smith for all his important goals, played every minute for the worst defence in league two

He did but he equally he didn't suggest that would be imminent and he would take his time. I suspect he has been asked to keep on Parky. He will need to bring in people of course in any event even if he doesn't bring in a number 2. Needs a GK coach for definite plus potentially fitness and conditioning coach even if he doesn't bring in a Number 2.

Clarke has a reputation as an old-school, no-nonsense manager, so it will be interesting to see how certain players deal with that.

I don't think he will be a yes man in his interactions with Palios either, which is important.

Why would you solely blame the defence for that and conclude all members of it were culpable? Smith for me had an outstanding season and dealt with the Alamo far better than others. Hard to recall him at fault for goals unlike others.
In hindsight binning Davies was a big error, who had a similar season last time in similar circs.
Do hope Marosi isn't coming though

If we sign an experienced keeper what would the coach do? It would be the like council worker being outnumbered by supervisors. I'd guess in a post Joe works we will go back to the false 2 but not homegrown anymore!
