    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

New manager - Darrell Clarke

The season finished 3 weeks ago, so it would hardly be a panic appointment.

Pete Wild left officially on May 11. Presumably he had been interviewed. So that means 12 days have gone by since then.

Job had to be advertised. People have to apply. Then interviewed. And it is during a period when a lot go on vacation. Then there are bound to be rejections and possibly no-one who has applied fits the bill, so far.

Wild won't have been interviewed for the job, and Palios will have known in advance of the Grimsby game that he wasn't going to retain him.

I believe only Rotherham in our division are currently without a manager, and they have an experienced director of football, so we need to get a move on and appoint one.

Wild was not interviewed for the job, if no one has applied fits the bill so far then we are in even more trouble than we currently are.

Who it is will depend on the degree of input, or not, from the new owners. It may well be a name that most don't recognise, an established technical or academy coach rather than an existing manager and perhaps Premier League level, or someone from the continent. I wouldn't expect it to be one of the usual names that seem to rotate through L2 clubs. If on the other hand the new owners haven't really had any input, then one of the 'usual' suspects is perhaps more likely.

According to Palios the prospective new owners are being kept informed of the manager search.

for fks sake will it ever happen we are so far behind most of the teams now its absolutely pathetic what this club has become

Rumour elsewhere announcement will be tomorrow, hopefully it is the case and it's not a disappointing appointment
Indeed Bigmart and now also stated from the recently very reliable source on other board so not long to wait.

An interesting choice, reading between the lines perhaps a club appointment rather than new owners, but with a two year contract, if the sale is going ahead they will have approved it, and nothing yet on the sale progress

Almost fell off my chair when idly scrolling through X for a split second..

Very interesting appointment. Not sure why the wheels off at Bristol Rovers but Clarke obviously has good credentials so hopefully that was just a blip rather than someone on a downward spiral. It’ll be interesting to see who’s in his backroom team.

An interesting appointment and yet another Port Vale old boy, under whom Andy Crosby worked. He knows this level well and is very experienced. He has five promotions under his belt, but none are recent and his record since leaving Port Vale is not so good with three sackings in three years. However, he is probably as good as anyone we could afford and attract, so let's welcome and support him.

Nathan Smith was his captain at Vale, so may be asked for his input. He will also know James Plant and Marko Marosi from his time there. i wonder if the big keeper will be his first signing. Surely he'd be a useful second choice, at least.

An experienced manager with a number of promotions on his cv, went badly wrong in his last job. Hopefully he is allowed to bring in his own coaching staff.

With a two year contract, either the appointment has been agreed by the potential new owners, or the sale isn't happening, I'd assume the former at this point. We can see why he's been appointed though, the club needs to build a team. He has said, pretty much, that the reason for his poor performance at other clubs has been because he had to work with what was already there, he's said he was attracted to this post precisely because of where the club is in needing to recruit, so let's see if his action is as good as his talk. He is known though for being able to shape young players into a team, something the club needs to do quickly if we want to hit the ground running, and has some success behind him. I think also the two year contract is telling, rather than three, that with incoming owners, though we need someone now to rebuild the club then stabilise things, the new owners will ultimately be looking to apply their own shape to things. I think, all told, not a bad appointment but not yet an indicator of where new owners might be wanting to take the club.
