    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

Deathly silence

It now seems that around half of the L2 clubs have made a signing of some sort, including fellow strugglers Crawley and Newport. Yet no sign of any transfer activity for Rovers. Irrespective of the takeover situation, the lack of any announced recruitment seems puzzling and fans are understandably getting concerned.
We are waiting to see which world cup players become available after the tournament, Boz.

On paper it’s a good appointment. Had a very good playing career and plenty of coaching experience.

The kind of new and fresh voice the club needs and arguably him and Clarke are a step up from recent coaching duos we’ve had.

Now we need some players

No issue at all with Dean Whitehead as assistant.

However, after Darrell Clarke’s remarks when he became manager implying that choosing his assistant not an immediate priority, the announcement of Dean before a single player has been recruited feels to be like a hint at least that we are having difficulties bringing players onboard. Perhaps just my trademark pessimism but…

Yes. Although generally positive a comment was made that as soon as he gets a better offer, he’ll be off.

I think this is a much better setup however. Now we just need some decent players.

The majority of players’ contracts run until June 30 so whilst it is a fact that players are being interviewed (as Darren said in his interview), it is likely new additions would not be announced until July.

Clearly new players have to be brought in - there are not enough fit players in the current squad.

So I don’t see any hint of player recruitment issues.

So if no new players come in I will eat my hat which will be easy because I don’t have a hat.

The fact that contracts expire on June 30th is irrelevant as several players have already signed for new clubs, last year we had signed several players before end of June.

Blackpool at home 18th July is the only games fans will be able to attend, the other games will be behind closed doors v unnamed opposition
