    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

Deathly silence

There was a very interesting Trip to the Moon podcast with Matt Jones on this subject this week.

His argument, which I agree with, is that if a takeover is not concluded quickly, the club is in as parlous a state as is imaginable, with only a handful of contracted players we would actually want to keep, no manager, one coach of doubtful ability and a recruitment policy that has failed us season after season.

Even with new ownership, we are miles behind our competitors in planning for next season. Without new owners, another season of massive struggle seems inevitable.

I have similar concerns RLC. One main reason we just about stayed up was the early season form, having a good away record for a while and being mid table around Xmas.

If we start the season poorly which we may well do given the points RLC makes, relegation might be nailed on.

Time is of the essence. I’m going to the Legends game today so will see if anyone can come out of retirement!

The planning for next season, should have started well before the last season ended. I cannot see anything changing till the take over is either completed or Palios admits it is not going to happen, the longer this goes on the harder it will be to build a team that will be competitive, not only a manager but coaches and players needed. I nothing is sorted soon, I would say, we can forget next season and just start hoping that Rovers can again gain enough points so that we are still in the football league, this time next year.

Without new owners we are certain to be bottom of the league

Apparently there was talk at the legends game yesterday that managerial interviews started last week

TROSC sent out an e-mail to members on Friday, seeking “constructive” questions about the future which the chairman will answer. Not expecting much to come out of it, but at least they’re trying.

With regard to any managerial interviews, it would be interesting to know who is conducting them!

I have issues another personal deadline, I will save comment until the end of the month. Then news will be no news. Then I can predict next season which is lose £3m regardless of team performance, even if went up we would still be mounting more debts. Bigger gates a cup run might save us 500,000

The 'silence' is frustrating, but will be largely because there is nothing new to say. If this continues beyond another couple of weeks, then, given that the admin/paperwork/transfer of funds to escrow for any sale should have been completed by that point, though with a US based finance company and consortium of bidders, it could easily take 2-6 weeks for the paperwork to be sorted, funds gathered and transferred, so no cause for undue concern just yet, an update on what's going on would be justified. Worth noting a couple of points though. Whoever is in charge next season will have to cope with stricter financial regs, owners are no longer allowed to put in whatever is needed to cover wages, anything put in by an owner for wages will now also be limited to a percentage of turnover, so our wage bill will have to be considerably less next season than this just gone, unless new owners can somehow create an immediate increase in income. Then, assuming the sale is still proceeding, it is highly likely that though interviews for a manager may be being conducted by the club, new contracts won't be able to be created without the approval of any incoming owners. Even if we do get 'rich' new owners, we won't see any kind of immediate change in playing budget, but they would be able to spend on infrastructure and obviously could also adopt a very different approach as far as personnel goes.

Depending on the 'deal' being made and I do keep harping on about this but MP still wants a say, so it is possible the takeover will still happen and MP is helping with the manager recruitment, not that that is a particularly pleasing thought but a possibility nevertheless.

With his abysmal record of appointing managers i really hope it has nothing to do with Palios but suspect it will be down to him.

Though the information available is somewhat scant, what there has been/is, indicates that the Palios' will be selling their entire stake, with the Indonesians retaining their existing stake alongside the new owners, as such, there is no reason for him to have any involvement after the sale completes, unless the owners accept his offer of providing 'assistance' to smooth the transition. Until though the sale is complete, the incoming owners have no ability to 'sign' or recruit anyone, so the Club have to undertake any recruitment, but it would, at a minimum, require the approval of the incoming owners, and might be at the direction of the incoming owners, but until something is confirmed, it's all pretty much speculation, even if reasonably reasoned.

Palios as good as acknowledged in his radio interview after the Grimsby game that he’d have to appoint a manager. That whole process was never going to be put on hold until the transfer of ownership was completed. But, with a sale anticipated “fairly soon” (as of two weeks ago), you’d expect the successful candidate would have the blessing of the prospective owners too, at the very least.

As for his record of appointing managers, it needs to be broken down a bit.

He’s developed a preference for appointing internal candidates, and that’s always ended in failure, typically within months rather than years.

But the next manager surely won’t be an internal candidate. And his recruitment of external candidates isn’t abysmal. Mixed, but certainly not abysmal. Adams, Brabin, Mellon twice and Hill.

Have hope!

The takeover was imminent over 2 months ago.

As for the next manager I wudnt be shocked if it was Neil Danns.

With Palios as owner we have no hope or faith in them whatever

Saw that the other day a twist on blame the dead guy, quote the dead guy.
However this is spun if Mark could have seen the project successfully launched it would have helped his sale no end.
A new owner could launch, absorb the inevitable losses and grow revenue!!!
