Gosh have the club gone on the jollies its so quiet
Knowing this club we will go into next season with the players we have left and give some fans 3 year contracts just to fill the holes lolDid we expect anything else?
I have similar concerns RLC. One main reason we just about stayed up was the early season form, having a good away record for a while and being mid table around Xmas. There was a very interesting Trip to the Moon podcast with Matt Jones on this subject this week.
His argument, which I agree with, is that if a takeover is not concluded quickly, the club is in as parlous a state as is imaginable, with only a handful of contracted players we would actually want to keep, no manager, one coach of doubtful ability and a recruitment policy that has failed us season after season.
Even with new ownership, we are miles behind our competitors in planning for next season. Without new owners, another season of massive struggle seems inevitable.
The planning for next season, should have started well before the last season ended. I cannot see anything changing till the take over is either completed or Palios admits it is not going to happen, the longer this goes on the harder it will be to build a team that will be competitive, not only a manager but coaches and players needed. I nothing is sorted soon, I would say, we can forget next season and just start hoping that Rovers can again gain enough points so that we are still in the football league, this time next year. There was a very interesting Trip to the Moon podcast with Matt Jones on this subject this week.

Without new owners we are certain to be bottom of the leagueThere was a very interesting Trip to the Moon podcast with Matt Jones on this subject this week.

With his abysmal record of appointing managers i really hope it has nothing to do with Palios but suspect it will be down to him.Depending on the 'deal' being made and I do keep harping on about this but MP still wants a say, so it is possible the takeover will still happen and MP is helping with the manager recruitment, not that that is a particularly pleasing thought but a possibility nevertheless.
Though the information available is somewhat scant, what there has been/is, indicates that the Palios' will be selling their entire stake, with the Indonesians retaining their existing stake alongside the new owners, as such, there is no reason for him to have any involvement after the sale completes, unless the owners accept his offer of providing 'assistance' to smooth the transition. Until though the sale is complete, the incoming owners have no ability to 'sign' or recruit anyone, so the Club have to undertake any recruitment, but it would, at a minimum, require the approval of the incoming owners, and might be at the direction of the incoming owners, but until something is confirmed, it's all pretty much speculation, even if reasonably reasoned.Depending on the 'deal' being made and I do keep harping on about this but MP still wants a say, so it is possible the takeover will still happen and MP is helping with the manager recruitment, not that that is a particularly pleasing thought but a possibility nevertheless.
Palios as good as acknowledged in his radio interview after the Grimsby game that he’d have to appoint a manager. That whole process was never going to be put on hold until the transfer of ownership was completed. But, with a sale anticipated “fairly soon” (as of two weeks ago), you’d expect the successful candidate would have the blessing of the prospective owners too, at the very least. With his abysmal record of appointing managers i really hope it has nothing to do with Palios but suspect it will be down to him.

As for his record of appointing managers, it needs to be broken down a bit.
He’s developed a preference for appointing internal candidates, and that’s always ended in failure, typically within months rather than years.
But the next manager surely won’t be an internal candidate. And his recruitment of external candidates isn’t abysmal. Mixed, but certainly not abysmal. Adams, Brabin, Mellon twice and Hill.
Have hope!
With Palios as owner we have no hope or faith in them whateverPalios as good as acknowledged in his radio interview after the Grimsby game that he’d have to appoint a manager.
