    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

One of the quietest and frustrating pre seasons

Can't help feeling before long a club will die because the regulator has too many hurdles. Ultimately any owner is better than no club.
With it being 'Civil Service' it was never going to be particularly responsive, and, of course, the whole point it's been created is to protect clubs, but as with everything to do with the Government and 'Whitehall' what's involved and the staffing required has been wholly under-estimated. Especially with the new licencing requirements and owners and executives checks being applied to all clubs not just new deals. There is a built in time limit on the owners checks, 90 days, but that would only start from the point they actually decide they need to run the checks which, I understand, they haven't, but haven't yet either 'rubber stamped' the EFL's approval.

I may be overreacting but potential owners seemingly having issues in raising funds does not excite me. We can moan about regulators but would the likes of Bury had survived if there had been more oversight?

But StuartR said earlier "The delay in the takeover is nothing to do with either Palios or the Club. Ascent Failed to gather the funds in time to complete the sale before the new Regulator took responsibility for the approval process. They have form for this, with the purchase of a German TV station falling through last year because they didn't transfer the funds. Delays now are solely due to the Regulator deciding what they need to do or not."

If that IS the case then I won't touch them with a barge pole. Far, far too easy, and more than a little convenient, to blame the new Regulator

Reactions: Boz
I've seen on twitter that an American group taking over at Tamworth are the first to be approved by the new regulator. Presuming our takeover is at that stage then a decision should be very soon.

I see your point, but what is plan b after 1987 only one person has put money into the club. Palios can't last forever and they are hardly breaking the door down. The trust couldn't even support a non league setup like Chester currently
