    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

this has got to be the most frustrating time supporting Rovers

The worst league placings since the club first entered the League in 1921 have been recorded under Mark Palios.

That is a simple fact.
It isn’t. Worst league placing (singular) would be a fact. And that was as much the consequence of years of under-investment under Johnson.

Another simple fact is that two of the club's mere seven promotions since 1921 have been recorded under Mark Palios. Or, if you prefer, one of its six promotions in the FL. Or one of merely four promotions in the FL when the club wasn’t financially doped.

This cherry-picking lark of yours is easy!

The worst league placings plural are facts.

Ninety second position in the Football League and three seasons in the National League. Do keep up.

Added to which, we have only finished lower in the Football League than the 20th position he 'achieved' last season on three occasions, one of which was his own relegation to the National League.

The majority of his tenure has been spent in non-league football or scrabbling round in the lower reaches of the fourth tier, a record that compares unfavourably with any other chairman we have had.

No sane fan would argue that if Palios hadn't stepped forward we would be better off. PJ is now long gone and yet no one has made a concrete offer or even a balsa wood one
You have no idea what offers were made.
Exactly! Offers must have been made because, as we’ve been told many times on here, Mark Palios’ demands keep preventing deals from being completed. And that’s from folk who are well plugged-in to the Cowsheds and the chattering classes of Prenton for their ‘info’, so you can’t say they’ve no idea about what offers were made!

It's plain wrong we finished 20th and bottom once. In the 1980s we finished in the bottom five three times in five years.

On that basis, another simple fact is that Mellon was in charge for two of those four worst league placings since 1921.

Etc etc etc.
He wasn't we weren't in the league! This latest Palios are my hamster limited it to the league.
Palios is one of two owners to preside over two promotions, although one doubtless doesn't count!

I'm not sure AM's post is even about safety, although this is still a real concern. Everything reeks of decay and a lack of ambition at the moment. Poor football, poor coaching, a deteriorating stadium, the Trust issue, an interminable takeover saga. Supporting Rovers is not bringing the level of joy that it should; win, lose or draw. The sooner we can move on from this torpor the better.
yes my post is about the lack of ambition, the lack of love from the want away owners who seem to be loaning of others and scaring new owners away i am really worried that we might be in financial trouble soon if mark does not budge on his demands and investment keeps walking away. we have a manager out of his depth and a team who are in losing habits, and we keep playing players upfront who are past there sell by dates, the whloe club is frustrating and rundown

I did have a detailed and polite response but your ‘do keep up’ comment to another poster makes it all a pointless exercise….

The whole point of a forum is for people to debate without insults.

So I won’t bother.

I would not worry yourself, he is no angel. As regular readers will know. And the interactions above make obvious.....

The first bit isn't right I'm afraid as the half good and half bad have to play others in their theoretical grouping, so they can't both win or lose respectively.
If we want to cling on to something negative, we lose 14 we go down. Every non defeat will erode that hope. I'll go with us getting 49 and being 11 clear.
I disagree with your first comment. This weekend's fixtures illustrate that it is theoretically possible for every team below us to pick up three points;
Fleetwood v Barrow
Swindon v Crewe
Accrington v Shrewsbury
Bristol Rovers
v Grimsby
Cheltenham v Salford
Colchester v Barnet
Crawley v Chesterfield
Gillingham v Oldham
Harrogate v Bromley
Newport v Cambridge
Notts County v TRFC
I accept that it's unlikely all of them will, but there don't seem any nailed on defeats for the sides beneath us in that list.
Even in some weeks where teams below us play one another and for sake of argument share the points, assuming they still had 6 games against bottom rivals, that still leaves 8 games they can theoretically win
On current form we're winning 1 game a month and there's only 1 game in May so put that down as a draw and a projected points total of 42, which is touch and go whether it will be enough.
I'd be very surprised if your suggestion of 39 points being sufficient to secure safety is correct. There isn't a real gulf between the top sides and the rest, so the top sides more likely to drop points than a typical season.

But to shift the bottom quarter en mass this needs repeating every week.
We seem to prove there is a gulf, we have completely different outcomes with the two groups. Not a thing I noticed myself but more attentive posters make this clear. Ergo we will struggle next two but beat Newport. 2 or 3 points for me which will be fine

It doesn't need repeating every week if our results carry on as they are, we have 3 points out of our last 8 games, Harrogate have 7 out of their last 3, Shrewsbury 9 points out of their last 3 games. It's all well and good saying we will beat Newport but it's far from certain. The gap was very comfortable but is looking less so by the game

Hes said what some of his demands are, ie staff kept on, the projects taken forward ie heritage hub etc

How many seasons have we spent outside of the football league?

You think those would derail an eight figure project, mere window dressing.
Defuses the argument we are a bad employer though!
