Next up is a trip to the County Ground to take on Ian Holloways Swindon. The robins have had a good season so far and sit second in the league. This is despite a serious injury earlier in the season to striker Harry Smith. Their current top scorer Aaron Drinan was sent off last week in the EFL trophy so may be suspended.

Either way ex rover Paul Glatzel may start and they’ve also got former Wrexham front man Ollie Palmer so have plenty of attacking threat up top. Swindon have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 1 at home this season and had a decent FA cup win at Rotherham last weekend.

As for rovers Crosby will have some decisions to make. Are either Dennis or Ironside fit to start up top ahead of Jennings? My guess is Ironside will be. In midfield will he keep the quartet of Whitaker, Blacker, Smallwood and Finley? Charlie will start and it may be 2 from the other 3 or all might start to help us in possession. I suspect it’ll be Whitaker and Jennings as the two number tens and Finley and Blacker behind. Patrick doesn’t look happy at wingback but suspect he’ll continue there. That just leaves the keeper position and I expect Murphy to return.

Prediction: a narrow defeat.

After the early FA Cup exit last week, Rovers return to league action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Ian Holloway's Swindon Town at the County Ground. The Robins currently sit 2nd in the league and are 10 points ahead of Rovers. Their recent form however has been a bit mixed. Over the last few games they have won in the FA Cup, got beat by West Ham U21 in the FLT, drew against Colchester and Notts County and got thumped 4-0 by Accrington Stanley.

Rovers' form has been equally mixed with only one win in five and the last time the two teams played was at the County Ground with Rovers doing down 3-1. Highlights below including a Davison special!

Rovers have a few more players returning to action such as Finley, Ironside and Dennis and although we lost against Stockport there were some encouraging signs. Former Rovers player Paul Glatzel may feature from the bench.

I think I have been to the County ground at least 5 or 6 times and never seen us get even a point.
I believe they will be too strong for us.
I also believe that crosby will stick to a 5-4-1 line up. With Ironside up front with Connor in the no 10 role.
This is not how I would line up but crosby gets paid to do that.
Cos playing a game against good opposition means that we need the right players in a formation that compliments the best use of the players we have in a formation that is strong in defence and players can express themselves, however it is usually in the creative department we are lacking.
4-4-2! As someone once said!

Me too but many of our players weren't alive mainly, so won't dwell on that.
You aren't second in November for no reason, their lad is banned though?
I'd be happy with 5311 with Whitaker in the hole. Jennings and Dennis could come on later as needs must?
We have permed two from three before Finley's return and looked poor and pedestrian in CM. Maybe Finley and two might be a significant advance.
If we get a chance we must take it, Ironside and the sharp looking Whitaker might be our best bets to capitalise. Last week we scored by an overhit/Misplaced ball from our strong RWB card to our stand out LWB who ricocheted it in. May need a bit more construction this time?

At Swindon, when I watch a Rovers game I usually back them to win 2-0, the nearest I have got to a winning bet was when Rovers were winning 2-0 both scored by Aldo at the county ground second half Swindon scored to make it 2-1 five minutes later the floodlights went off, game was abandoned and I lost my bet. Still determined and hoping for good odds, I am going for a 2-0 away win. Now since I can only see out of one eye I have to try and get Swindon to let me in for half price. If they do I will finally forget about the abandoned game about 20 years ago.

it must have been the first year back in league two.
we were 2-0 up. Jay Harris got sent off. We crumbled. We lost 3-2!
before the red card, we were all over them and I thought at last, we will.
Aaaagghhnn!

Swindons home form this season: W: 4 D: 2 L: 1

As the small print on any investment form will tell you: "Past performance is not a guarantee of future results." The same applies in football, otherwise we'd all be Littlewoods Pools millionaires.

Plus we’re the division’s top scorers away from home!

Last season we were the architects of our own downfall there, until Norman’s sending off we were quite comfortable despite them having all the possession. Even though they’ve carried on this season as they ended the last, I see no reason why we can’t make life awkward for them again….but for 90+ minutes rather than 85 this time!

Victory might be a bit too optimistic so I’ll go for a 2-2.

I've not been back to Swindon since the floodlight failure.. it cuts deep
I have never forgotten it either Ian. At the time Swindon had some sort of club, you had to be a member to enter the ground, they charged away fans £1 extra to become a member for the day, when they abandoned the game they kept us in the ground for about half an hour, then gave us vouchers to get in for £1 less for the replay, needless to say I refused to go to the replay which I think we lost 2-0. We also lost 3-1 in the first leg of the play off, after Aldo had a goal disallowed, which I still don't know the reason for.

sorry ive been quiet guys we are all sick in our house and our little girl was rushed into hospital yesterday and had an operation this morning still at the hospital now. back to work tomorrow. been a nightmare week
Sorry to hear that Am, I hope your family all get over the illness quickly and your daughters operation went well and she will quickly heal and be back home with you all soon.

I had forgotten that game Keith, the game I remember was about 15 years earlier. when the floodlights failed with Rovers winning 2-1. The game was abandoned with Swindon winning the replay 2-0, Aldo was injured and didn't play in the replay.
