Well good old Tranmere. Quiet as a mouse. So technically we have no manager. Half a team, and we don't know who will own the club next season. And only 8 weeks till pre season. What could go wrong.

Did we expect anything else?

It's very frustrating that we have had no update whatsoever for a fair while and time is ticking, its not difficult to put a statement out but no absolutely nothing

This is clearly the right appointment, but it would be interesting to know who actually made it.

The statement from Palios does not suggest any input from prospective owners, but who knows.

It would not suprise me if its collapsed with all Palios special demands and the cash flow at the club

Yes Crosby deserved a crack at the permanent role and good luck to him. The length of his deal isn’t disclosed unlike our previous manager. Hopefully this will give the players we want to keep some certainty but I’m starting to wonder if the takeover is off or for whatever reason, Palios will still be in charge come August. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Yes and we all know it will be done on the cheap

Having Palios in control wouldn't bother me, he is just a pantomime villain currently. Having him it anyone else who is potless, would other me.
Having someone with pots full but, like many of the current owners around, highly dubious characters would also bother me.
Careful what you wish for, on balance it optimistic frankly

It is interesting that when the season ended, Crosby was fairly adamant that he wanted to be a number one at a club with ambition.

Since our demotion we’ve finished lower in the league each season so has he been given assurances we’ll have a decent budget? Time will tell.

Yes, that is what makes me think the deal is still going ahead.

After saving Tranmere from the drop into the National league, I think Crosby deserves the job, hopefully everything else will start to fall into line now and come August we will be raring to go, with a team that has every chance of competing for at least a play off place. We can only hope.

It does seem it is not the budget of a p!ay off contenders.
Rumours abound with the usual MP contract negotiations. As players who are out of contract. Can have another but at a very reduced salary and signing on fee.
This has been happening to our players since before covid. Reducing the overall wage bill and signing players who are nowhere near league two standard. And filling the squad with youngsters and loanees who should be playing in the National league north.
Never mind the crocks.
And as someone has already said. Who appointed Crosby?
Can he produce his magic again with a poorer squad?
If that is the case of no takeover.

An interesting take, RLC. After his recent exploits, I'd expect Andy was not short of offers and would not want to continue at PP if he was not going to be backed with more cash. However, I'd love to know if Tacopina was consulted and how long the contract is. Right now, all we are doing is trying to read between the lines (or lack of them).

Good news that Crosby has signed as he said he was ambitious so hopefully that's a good sign.
Unfortunately several of those we have offered deals too will almost certainly leave, but if Crosby has the same budget that Adkins had then in hopeful that we can challenge at the top end of the table

As the song says, Silence is Golden…;) Soon be over, I reckon.

Like everyone else, I’m happy with Crosby’s appointment, he’s shown a lot of good qualities that should serve him well as a permanent manager even though he’s mostly been a number 2 in his career so far. He’ll have learnt from his experience at Vale too.

Looking forward to hearing from him tomorrow.

Tomorrow's interview will be interesting. Why not today? Unusual? Plus no mention re contract length suggests maybe rolling one?
Think he deserves the opportunity but am slightly more negative than others about the takeover. Given how he did whe he took over he may feel the same budget or a top up via Smurthwaite may be enough to allow him to show he can do the business?
