    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

Pre season friendlies 25/26

Also AC said there will be more incomings as well as some outgoings
Good to hear Bigmart. Taylor must surely be the outgoing given Finley and Williams are injured and as he once again was behind Saunders in the pecking order. if it is I feel sorry personally but probably best for all that he moves on. Just hope we don't regret it.
Dennis is surely the only other possible - I wonder if he wants out unless of course someone miraculously wants Saunders.

Thanks for the reports.
Doesn't sound like it was particularly inspiring albeit against a better team though to not manage a shot until the 91st minute is pretty pathetic.
Hopefully Crosby has some irons in the fire that will improve the attacking form.

Was there a sub GK named?
Gk. - Billy Crellin was released by Everton and had played most of the season on loan at Accy. So ok at our level. Can't imagine he'd be expecting a fortune.

No sub keeper as we literally have no others at the moment

Were the strikers getting service or starved without much creativity?

What was the starting xi and which subs were used? The o/s match report doesn't specify this.
After the promising results in the BCD games, expectations were raised. It doesn't sound very inspiring fare. If as KH reports Taylor was the only player to be testing the Wigan keeper, then Crosby needs to be re-assessing his striker pecking order.

We looked a bit brighter when the youngsters came on, but I thought it was a performance that confirmed a few fears. Solid defensively but offered next to nothing going forward, with our first shot off target coming in the 91st minute.
Sounds a lot like last season before Crosby took over.

Nice to be back at PP but some familiar concerns from last season.

Defensively we were ok and Smith and Brough were fine. Kenneh has some energy and presence although at 6 foot 2 I was surprised he wasn’t in the box when we had some corners. Smallwood is good on the ball but sat fairly deep and isn’t the the most mobile. Whitaker floated around but is a bit lightweight and contributed little. The young loanees Blacker and Harris didn’t have long but the former looked technically very good and good on the ball.

Ironically we looked better when Taylor came on and Saunders stretched their defence once or twice. Both players who I thought may leave. Solomon a shame he didn’t get a go up front.

Davison was just like last season. Worked hard but not good enough. A hat trick against bootle is fine but we need more.

Can’t be too critical as only one friendly but I have concerns about us going forward. Davison, Jennings etc just won’t be enough. Also around half of the team today were new players which may take time to gel.

I think we might come to regret the loss of both Morris and Hawkes.

Yes, the former was probably past his best, but Whitaker did not look as effective as either player today, and we were seriously lacking creativity in midfield.

The gap between Whitaker and Smallwood and Kenneh, who sat really deep, was also too big and was exploited by Wigan. We missed Hendry's ability to get round the pitch.

Yes I agree, and Hendry too in advanced positions. albeit still early days. Whitaker naturally doesn’t have much experience and may be a work in progress. As much as Patrick didn’t like playing left wing back, it meant Omari had space to cut in from the left so could drive and score from distance. Playing as a left sided number 10 meant he had less time and more opponents around him. I can see why we did it but arguably should we be changing the position of last seasons top scorer?

As I say I’m trying to not be too critical. We beat a fairly strong Preston side last week. Perhaps we’ll be better away from home soaking up pressure and hitting teams on the break, but the big issues I think are scoring enough goals (although I’d take a 1-0 win next Saturday!)

There was a fella dressed in geen in the half time warm up, although the team sheet didn't declare a sub keeper. My nephew gave me a potential name, but I can't remember it. He said the fella was folliculy challenged as was the fella on the pitch. Probably not much help...

He helps out with the coaching of the keepers he's not a professional keeper
