I thought this was an interesting article particularly in the context of Carlisle having relatively new American owners. I have rather lost track of the Tacopina situation or is it still in limbo?

Group of investors, mortgage parts, develop the land, asset strip, sell at an inflated price to maximise profit and investment.

Where have I heard that before?

The golden shares are meant to prevent asset stripping arnt they

Americans taking over Leyton Orienr! 18m! In 1962 they were promoted to old Division One with Liverpool but were relegated the year after with Man City! Have been in the National League recently as we know. Another well funded lower league team and still we wait……

That strikes me as a bargain. All the London clubs (except AFC Wimbledon) have spent time in the top flight. Look at Brentford. A few years ago I put money in a bucket to save them from extinction. Then they were taken over, built a new ground and are now established in the Premier League. There is no reason Leyton Orient could not do the same.

I have always wondered what Rovers’ true potential was. With a bit of investment and a handful of academy graduates, we nearly reached the EPL in 1992. Times have now changed. More investment could be needed, but a move from Prenton Park to a local, modern stadium which is part of major development with ambitious funding of players is almost certainly the key to long lasting success. Wirral Borough Council would be crucial. Our gates were five figures in the early nineties and could be again if more people were able to take pride in the club.

WBC should be concentrating on sorting essential services out not capitalist punts on football. A riverside regeneration would be fine like is proposed around Old Trafford, otherwise they should steer well clear.

I’m not saying WBC should become capitalists. But they would be actively involved in planning and transport decisions etc.

Depending on where and the land for the new stadium, the council has to have (as well as the city region mayor etc) and provide the services required to get started.
The proposed move to Bidston the council and Peel holdings, along with the regeneration of the docks areas, is still there.
New regeneration money for the old gasworks site, behind birkenhead central has been approved by the council for social housing etc. We were once thought to be a viable site for us.
