I see they could be going into administration if the ownership cannot be sorted out.

It’s a sad fact that a lot of Johnny Come Lately clubs, as I call the sides who came up from non-league in the last fifty years, suffer a similar fate. They do well at first, sometimes even reaching the Championship, but once the rot sets in they slide back into non-league and usually fold. I am thinking of Yeovil, Rushden & Diamonds, Scarborough, Macclesfield, Maidstone United etc. Some reform but few return to their former glory.

Conversely, traditional league clubs who lose their status, usually get back. It can take clubs like Tranmere a short time to recover. Barrow and Accrington however took a lot longer, but did make a successful return.

Fair comment BBTC. I have memories of Morecambe and others in the Lancashire Combination before the Northern Premier League was created in 1968!

Point of order, sir! Yeovil didn’t fold. However Accrington Stanley did - the current Accrington Stanley was formed in 1968, two years after the ex-league club was finally liquidated.

Back to Morecambe and the dodgy owner has today sacked the entire board after they threatened him with administration yesterday!

The club have been suspended from the National League. Another badly run club.

Such a shame about Morecambe. One of my best away days was there when Harvey Gilmour slammed in a late winner in that 4-3 win.

There is so much money knocking about in football especially at the top end. A shame none could help them out. Or Morecambes own Tyson Fury.

It's not official as yet so hopefully the owner will come to his senses and sell before it is too late

Shrewsbury the latest club apparently close to a takeover.

You do wonder whether given the ego Palios has I bet he isn’t the easiest to do a deal with and may have contributed to the delays. He always said he wouldn’t sell to anyone dodgy but I bet he’s awkward to negotiate with as it’s probably his way or nothing.

I’m quite surprised Wood hasn’t found another club yet and he could certainly do a fair job at NL level.
Yes and some of the other names on the latest PFA lists are half decent.

Who knows the truth, but there has been some suggestion that Palios wants his pet projects like the development of the campus to continue under the new owner, or he will not agree to sell.

I see that the Morecambe takeover is done and that all outstanding debts will be paid by Wednesday. Adams have been sacked and the new owners are saying that they just want stability this season before getting serious about returning to L2.

Palios continues to be viewed negatively by some but without him we would probably be down the pyramid somewhere now. As has been said many times, in this day and age getting someone to put serious money into Rovers is not a business proposition particularly given its geographic location. Having invested so much time and money in the Club I am sure that Mark does not want it to be all for nothing in selling to a party whose intentions might be open to question. If any of us was in his position I would be surprised if we thought differently.

Morecambe’s new owners say they want stability yet start by sacking Derek Adam’s?! Feels a bit of a strange move.

Drwhoman, I think you could equally make the argument that someone else taking over the club at the same time and on the same terms with the Ingleborough money could have done a whole lot better.
