So after a good start to the pre season its gone so flipping quiet. Knowing Rovers we will wait till last half hour of the transfer window to bring in a crock

Pre season has only just started so there is still time.

However after the initial Crosby contract, players contracts and new arrivals, things have gone quiet. That is normal but my concern is that pre season training has started. No doubt we’ll get a loan player or two but I just hope we’re not in a position that the funds we have left in the piggy bank aren’t enough to attach decent attacking or midfield players.

Especially when now that our defence is mainly sorted, we have Taylor, Jennings, Solomon, Davison, Saunders and Dennis all under contract. Can we spend much more on attacking players? Possibly not and we’re focussing on central midfielders and or number tens.

Still a bit of time though yet. No need to panic

I wonder too if we’re looking to offload one or two of the contracted players who Crosby mightn’t fancy. If so, that could affect who we bring in and when.

Besides Taylor who had rumoured interest who would want Davison, Taylor or Finley
Finley would get a club but he is effectively long term injured, there is little to suggest Crosby doesn't want him. Davison and Saunders would get a much reduced contract probably in non-league so we would have to take a hit.

As I said, I wonder.

This is L2 not the Premier League. It would rarely be in anybody’s interest for a club to blithely keep hold of any player they don’t want just because they’ve got another year on their contract, or for the player to sit tight for a year and wind it down. Worst case scenario is usually that a pay off is agreed.

Finley will play. I suspect the other two will also as we have no options. The pay off could be so big that the manager may decide they are more useful in the squad than being paid half salary to be elsewhere. It is frightening to consider they are probably top earners!

Not sure Finley would get a club. His reputation is very badly tarnished after his third offence and whilst he’s decent on his day, he’s nearly 33. He’s lucky he’s got another year with us. I suspect he will feature for us when available but only because our other midfield options may be limited.

I suspect Crosby rates Davison and possibly thinks he could get more out of him than Nigel did. Whereas Saunders will get little time but again, who would take him?

Mention on the other site of non-league interest in Saunders. Suppose it depends on the wages they're prepared to pay set against his current pay packet.

Also saw a reference somewhere to Finley being on crutches and he didn't feature in the welcome back video, though is eligible to participate in pre-season games before serving the rest of his ban.

The ITK on the other site mentions conversations with an agent, where he was told expecting 4 in in the next fortnight; 2 central midfielders, winger and a striker, with probably another 4 after that. We'll just have to wait and see, but surprised there aren't one or two already signed and waiting to be announced. Or perhaps there are...

I’d assume we have made offers to players but they are probably weighing up their options.

Indeed. Sadly I think we are currently at an all time low as an attraction. I'd guess the bigger conference clubs are more attractive
