Tranmere Rovers today announced that they have extended the contracts of two of their young professionals. Terry Gornell (pictured, left) and Aaron Cresswell have both signed up for another two years at Prenton Park.
Gornell is a young striker who, despite his age of 19, has good strength and holds the ball up well, as well as having an eye for goal. A prolific scorer at youth and reserve team levels, he has broken in the first team squad this season following a loan spell in October 08 with League Two side Accrington Stanley. Amongst his 12 appearances for Rovers this season, the Liverpool-born forward bagged his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with MK Dons in February.
Cresswell is also 19 and hails from across the River Mersey in Liverpool. He has impressed when coming into the first team this season to deputise for regular left-back Andy Taylor with his all-action displays, and even kept the former Blackburn man out of the side with some impressive performances. He has made 13 appearances so far this season, and netted his first senior goal against Bristol Rovers in April.
