Default Bas out til next February

Les Parry's article in the programme said that Bas had snapped the same achilles slipping on some steps. He's unlikely to be back until February. Could explain why Barnes mentioned bringing in another striker, although we're rather better off for attackers than defenders. Feel sorry for Bas, we could be as good as down by the time he returns. As last season showed it's almost inevitable you get a couple of major injuries. With a squad of Rovers' size this could prove critical.

This is yet another blow ahead of the season, we really could do with a couple of players coming in quickly to lift everyone as it could be a hard season ahead.

Reading the coments from John Barnes after the match the players he had lined up will not now be coming in which would suggest Shotton wont be back especially as he has started the last two games for Stoke. Fingers crossed that there will be new additions soon.

Bit of a shame. News of the World has Bas as Tranmere's 'key Player'.... even though he was almost certain to play at one of the CB positions

What we need is Gary Jones - a centre back, midfielder and striker all rolled into one!

Some versatility would be good considering the size of the squad. Gutted about Bas. He can be a real handful for the opposition even if his goalscoring stats aren't wonderful. Hope he comes back sooner than expected.

Boz - I have never heard such overdramtic pessimistic person in my life!

"We could be as good as down in February" - mate get a grip!

We do have versatile players aswell already at the squad:

Logan - Right Back/Left Back
Cresswell - Left Back/Left Midfield
Edds - Right Back/Right Midfield/Centre Back/Centre Midfield
Thomas Moore - Right Wing/Left Wing/Striker
Mahon - Left Wing/Centre Midfield
Taylor - Centre Back/Centre Midfield
Barnett - Right Midfield/Left Midfield/Centre Midfield
Fraughan - Left Midfield/Centre Midfield
Shuker - Right Wing/Left Wing

Our squad is not as weak as everyone is saying. We just need 2 centre halfs and that is it.

DWaltz, I hope that your optimism is justified. The Shrewsbury friendly was one of the poorest showings by a Tranmere side in recent memory. Whatever rabbit Barnes pulls out of the hat by way of last ditch central defensive loan signing is likely to be too late. No apologies for my perspective, but I'll be delighted if you're right.

Default Barnett signs and....

....Seems to have disappeared.
Charlie Barnett showed lots of promise as the season went on and I was pleased he signed a new contract. Yet he has not been involved in much of the build up.
Is he injured?

Can't remember exactly what the problem was but a knock of some kind kept him out of the Liverpool game. Les mentioned him briefly in his column, didn't suggest anything too serious. Hope that he's back soon.

In his comments after the game on satruday John Barnes mentions Barnett and say he is unlikely to be fit for the Yeovil game on saturday but doesntmention how much longer he is likely to be out for.

Whatever the starting line up at Yeovil the bench will be rather bare with seven subs this season.
