Ian Moore has become the first of the "out-of-contract" players to sign a new deal at the club, and effectively becomes John Barnes' first signing for Rovers. Moore has agreed a two-year extension to his stay at Prenton Park.
John Banres told the media of his delight at securing the striker's services once more for the club: "I'm delighted Ian has decided to stay at the Club. He is a very experienced player who is a proven goal scorer. I look forward to working with him, and the rest of the squad, in pre-season training."
Despite the sacking and poor treatment of his father by the club last month, Moore told of his own delight at re-signing and said it was a simple decision to make: "I've really enjoyed my time back at Tranmere and am happy to have signed a new contract at the Club. I'm looking forward to the new season and hopefully we will push for promotion."
In other transfer news, it is believed that Tranmere have offered ex-Rovers midfielder Alan Mahon the chance to earn a contract back at Prenton Park. The Irishman, who left Burnley at the end of last season, will be given the chance to train with Rovers in pre-season and if he impresses the new manager, a more permanent deal may be offered to him.
The same applies to former Liverpool man John Welsh. The 25 year old midfielder has struggled with injuries in recent times, in his spell at Hull City who released him at the end of the season. The former England U-21 international will train with Tranmere and try to impress John Barnes, as well as prove his fitness, in a bid to earn a deal at Prenton Park.
